MICHAEL A. EDBERG, MBA, CFA
VICE PRESIDENT

Michael A. Edberg serves as Vice President at Homeland Security Solution (HSS). In his role as Vice President, Mr. Edberg leads Homeland Security Solutions’ Financial Services Group which supports the strategic growth of start-ups and small and medium businesses operating in the homeland security and national security space. Mr. Edberg has over 18 years international finance experience working for the International Finance Corporation and MicroVest Capital Management. He is also the Founder and Managing Member of J.M. Edberg Investment Management and he serves as an advisor to the Conscious Venture Lab, the Accelerator of the David B. Wolfe Institute for Conscious Entrepreneurship.

Prior to joining HSS, Mr. Edberg was the Managing Director, Investments at MicroVest Capital Management from 2008-2012. At MicroVest, Michael supervised three regional managers and a staff of eight investment officers and analysts with an annual department budget of about $1.2 million. Responsibilities included developing the investment strategy, annual and semi-annual investment goals, managing the pipeline and evaluating team member performance. In his capacity as Managing Director, he traveled extensively in Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia and India, leading diligence missions, meeting with government officials, banking regulators and prospective investment targets. He also led due diligence focused on financial performance, asset quality, operations, economic, political and regulatory risks, operational risk management, anti-money laundering compliance and know-your-customer policies.

Prior to joining MicroVest, Michael worked for 13 years at the International Finance Corporation (IFC). At IFC Michael was responsible for developing new business leads, identifying and researching investment opportunities in the banking sector worldwide, leading investment due diligence teams, performing credit risk and equity analyses, leading appraisal teams and investment negotiations. At IFC Michael successfully concluded over 30 debt, equity and quasi-equity transactions.

In 1993 Michael worked for Pinkerton Risk Assessment Services (now Pinkerton Global Risk) where he focused on tracking and interpreting risks in the Middle East that could affect the operations and assets for its Fortune 500 clients.

Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and International Relations from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, and a Master’s of Business Administration degree in International Business - Finance from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Michael has intermediate Hebrew and Spanish language skills. He is also CFA Charterholder.
